About Us

Thank you for your interest in learning more about the Missoula Education Foundation (MEF). The MEF is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established in 2007 whose purpose is to raise funds and build community support for the Missoula County Public Schools.  While the MEF works co-operatively with the MCPS Administration and Board of Trustees to learn about programs that would benefit from community support, the MEF is an independent entity with its own separate Board of Directors.  The MCPS Superintendent serves as an ex-officio board member. We welcome you to learn more about our board members.

We at the MEF believe that every child deserves a quality education and that the vitality of our community is only as strong as the quality of education its students receive.  While we believe that MCPS has a fiscal responsibility to provide a quality education for every child, we recognize that some educational programs, especially ones that foster creativity and offer new solutions to thorny problems, may not be affordable in the regular school budget.  We see the MEF as a way our community can support exceptional educational programs that serve children of all ages with wide-ranging abilities and interests. MEF will not fund programs to replace regular budget items.

Whether you are the parent of a school-aged child or a community member with no one currently enrolled in the public school system,  we all have a stake in the quality of public education our students receive. Many of these children  will become our neighbors, our community and business leaders, tax-paying citizens and voters.  With your help, we can deliver on our mission to enhance educational opportunities in our public schools by promoting community investment in Missoula's most vital resource, our children.  Please peruse our website to learn more about our work and ways that you can become involved.
